It's been a while since I posted on dA, I've been busy all round, between day work and night work. In a bid to get some experience creating some professional game art, I have joined the team at Conflicting Kingdoms to help work on illustrations for their upcoming card game. So far there are still a few hundred briefs still to do, but there are around 30-40 artists on the team, so hopefully they will all be finished soon and the game can go on sale. Im looking forward to seeing the finished version of the game and playing it. In the meantime, I have so far completely finished 21 illustrations for the cards, mostly cards associated with a race called the Konk, some of which will be included in a themed deck featuring just my artwork exclusively. The Konks are a secretive race of monkey-like people who live in the trees of the forest, with ninja-style abilities who hire themselves out as mercenaries to the highest bidder. To keep some kind of consistency in style, the cards are to be produced as coloured lineart. The Conflicting Kingdoms site is still being worked on, but you can join their Facebook group to keep posted on the progress of the game. You can check out the sets of cards I've already completed over in my gallery.
I've also had my iMac die on me in the middle of all this, luckily I've been able to resurrect my old G4 Mac which has been holding out up to now. Its slow, but its better than nothing, and the Conflict cards arent overly big images, so far so good. I have five more cards to finish for the themed deck, which I should have finished by the end of the week hopefully.
The game is being launched with the Starter Decks at the beginning of June at the UK Games Expo in Birmingham, and Im hoping to pop over there for a couple of days. Ive never been to a convention before so Im quite looking forward to that, if I can make it. If you want to follow the games progress or want to become a beta tester, check out the Conflicting Kingdoms page on Facebook.
