Final Initiation of the Baku-rider
Every year, 5 of the youngest children of the Mastro clan from the continent of Kram are initiated into the Baku guard, for 10 long years of arduous training. Their prize is to become one of the elite Baku Squadron, the aerial assault who have turned the tide in the many battles fought by the Mastro against their enemies.
But before they finally earn their wings, the teenagers must fly with the wild Baku out on the desert plains of Kram. If they succeed, they earn their wings; if they fail, they become a juicy meal for the young Baku!

Thanks so much for the comment. I actually had him smiling excitedly in one of my original sketches but I thought it took too much of the danger and naivety away from his situation.

The perspective is really cool. I like the tilt of the dragon (/), against the tilt of the horizon (\)<--so that's real nice. Also good use of blues to keep the overall atmosphere. and I also like how the fg fades into the bg and it gets more blue against the sky.. Your texturing is also really good, and the anatomy works as well.

On the negative side, compositionally I believe the person could be better placed in view of the dragon's mouth, maybe more on a tilt. Also the person's foreshortening is ok, but I believe it could be better. I'm also taking the person's size into consideration- how big he would be compared side by side- and comparing that to him in front of the screen now. uhmm.. I noticed that the dragon on the bottom left is very irrelevant, and doesn't add to the picture, so I think it should have been left out.

Oh yeah, one more thing, the fg dragon's wings look slightly lopsided on his back, (but it could just be me
:-?)

anyway, nice pic. I like it.

here is someone on my watchlist, maybe you've seen their stuff?? it's amAAzing!! (stressed the "A" part lol)

peace!!

Jesus was tired, but He gave some rest. He was hungry, but he fed 5000. He was tempted, but He sinned not. Stressed, but he persevered. Bruised, but he gave us healing. Mocked, but still he loved. He died, and was resurrected.

Thanks so much for this, it's always great to get some fresh eyes on a pic. I did struggle quite a lot with the composition and all the elements, I went backwards and forwards with him quite a lot, you can see my wips here if you're interested [link] The foreshortening is always difficult too, I was hoping that if I made it this extreme that it would emphasise how big the dragon was, but I'm not sure if it worked that well. Also the dragon bottom left was another element I thought would help with the scale of the piece to show how high up they were flying.
I do actually have Kerembeyit on my watchlist, I think I found him when I started this pic to try and get some inspiration for the dragon. His stuff is amAAzing too, will be keeping a close watch on him.
Again thanks so much for taking the time to comment, consider it all stored away for future reefrence.
Cheers!
